The Presets are an Australian electronic music duo of Julian Hamilton (vocals, keyboards) and Kim Moyes (drums, keyboards). Formed in and signed to Modular Records, The Presets released two EPs (Blow Up, Girl and the Sea) in advance of their debut album, Beams, released in to positive critical response. After two years of touring, including as the Australian support for Daft Punk.

If you could imagine a yearbook for 's School of Rock, The Presets would stand out like a jet black ink blot on the page: defying categorization in their recorded work, exceeding expectations above and beyond in sweat-drenched live shows that leave the competition for dead, releasing videos and artwork as beautiful as they are twisted. They would be crowned the official class odd bods. And.

The Presets are Julian Hamilton (keyboard and vocals) and Kim Moyes (drums and keyboard). They are an electronic two piece from Sydney, Australia who met when they were both members of setttablasesenicinhaysupfulogqui.xyzinfoon and Moyes broke off from Prop in , when they remixed a track, "Magnetic Highway", with "harder electronic edges" under the name The Presets.

Album Rating: Man, I'm so disappointed with this album! I loved pretty much everything I heard off it before I got it (Are you the one?, Down Down Down and I Go Hard, I Go Home), but alot of the tracks are less upbeat and 'pumping' as I thought they would be. *sigh* Still, its a hell of an effort on its own merits, and it might grow on me even more.

The album received mixed to positive reviews. AllMusic called the album an "uneasy yet unforgettable combination of '80s gaudy pop flair and dark, propulsive rave beats". Pitchfork, on the other hand, gave it a low /10 rating, writing "the most frustrating thing about Beams is that Moyes and Hamilton both know better".. Track listing. All tracks are written by Julian Hamilton and Kim Moyes Genre: Dance.
